Kyoko, a young woman with an unhindered spirit despite being physically bound to a wheelchair due to illness, and Shuji, a stylish and popular fashion magazine hairstylist, are brought together in a fateful traffic incident. Despite their confrontational meeting, they soon find themselves falling in love, with Shuji drawn to her courage and enthusiasm and Kyoko attracted to his ability to look beyond her physical limitations and into her heart. However, Kyoko's protective older brother and her worsening condition begin to test the bounds of their love for each other and threaten to end their beautiful life together.
This is the first Japanese series or jdorama that I have seen. In the first few episodes, I felt bored, I almost did not want to finish it but as the episodes progressed, the storyline became clearer. After watching k-dramas and growing up watching Chinese series, I realized j-dramas are a bit slow paced or what?
I found it rather difficult to rate this series. This drama is inspiring, pretty good, I did not find it fantastically out-of-this-world, but I can say for sure, yup it is pretty good but it is not a classic.
The very good dramas are the ones that give you that wonderful feeling that lingers and stays with you for days. The beginning of the drama was verrrrry slow, sluggish, then down in the middle, the more beautiful, real story begins, the storyline has an up and down trajectory, some dragging moments, and some interesting ones.
Overall it was good but didn't seem spectacular. I give this series 7 out of 10 because of the nice and now-famous final scene which is just wonderful and reassuring, Shuji finally got that feeling of healing and love and serenity
I think Okabe Takumi, Takuya's bestfriend, is a major hottie...
Some spoilers here!!
** Some Nice Scenes:
@ Kyoko giving Shuji-san a dream catcher, I wanted one for years. That's sweet!
@ Shuji moving Kyoko's wheelchair with the feet!! This one scene looks so romantic to me! Believe me!
@ Shuji's declarations of love for Kyoko.
@ Kyoko asking Shuji to make love to her.
@ Sachi telling Masao he' going to be a father.
@ Sachi and Masao's love story.
@ The ending: with Kyoko now dead, Shuji has his own salon now near the beach, he gave a little girl a nice haircut and Shuji just stared into the horizons, I can feel that he has found serenity and real happiness.
Kimura Takuya as Okishima Shuji Shuji-san is such a wonderful person, he is honest, loving, sincere, and unselfish. Does this kind of a man still exist today?
This is the first jdorama of Takuya that I have seen and KimuTaku, (wow I like that nickname!) looks so much like Won Bin! Wow! J There were dragging and boring scenes where I just think oh this is Won Bin; I can finish watching this one. I saw his pictures in his other series and he looks like a young twenty-something but in this one, he looks like his age, just about 30-ish. Yup. Will his unsurpassed popularity maintain as age catches up with him? He dresses young though, I think I prefer his hair short than this long, shaggy 'do. He looks pretty bad in this series, looks tired, and shots of his face shows his skin is pretty bad too. As an actor, I think he is natural, funny, he is okay, nothing outstanding, and he was unconvincing in some sappy, sad scenes. Oh and the scenes where he smokes, man is that for real? This guy could chain-smoke or what?! I still like Takuya Kimura though.
Tokiwa Takako as Machida Kyoko
The first time I saw Kyoko, what with her hair curly and scattered all over the place, she looked well, not good, horrendous even; she was annoying too. I felt it was stupid how she keeps on saying you shouldn't love me or find someone "normal". I wanted to drag her out of her world of self pity and get her to see that the world was more than just disabilities. When he started changing for the better, I think that was when I started liking her too. Tokiwa is a very talented actress; I want to see more of her acting in another series.
Sachi and Masao
Miki Mizuno and Watabe Atsuro (Kyoko's brother) are so funny; I absolutely liked both of them. The storyline of this drama is verrrrry slow; I almost force myself to watch some episodes, that at one point I was more interested in the side story of Sachi and Masao.
I believe the most wonderful performance in this series comes from actor Watabe Atsuro, playing Kyoko's younger brother Masao.

Lee Da Hee already went Taiwan last june 26-28 for the promotion of My Girl.
Speaking of Lee Da Hee, I have read that she and Lee Dong Wook will be paired again for the series “Lovers in Bangkok” the third sequel to “Lovers in Paris and Lovers in Prague.
The one and only Crown Prince of the Republic of Korea; the young man who will inherit the throne. He possesses the intelligence and appearance of the son of a bright king and a beautiful queen. Although he is irritated by the strict rules and dull life inside the palace and feels bored with his life, he has an intense and ongoing struggle with his own identity. Repelled by the fact that he has to spend his entire life as king inside the palace, he dreams of escape. When he starts learning what it means to be alive by looking at Queen Chae-kyeong, whom he marries without feelings of love, he gradually gains strength in life and starts to feel love towards her. Meanwhile, he plays love games with Hyo-rin, his ex-lover, and confronts Yool, his rival, at every turn. Shin is a 쐍owhere manwho believes that there is no place for him; neither inside the palace nor anywhere else in the world.
An art major at an art high school who, one day, suddenly becomes the queen. She is an active girl who goes around wearing her training pants inside her school uniform skirt and enjoys sketching scenes with a comic-like imagination. Although she is easily befriended by anyone regardless of age and doesn셳 make enemies, once she starts disliking something she continues to do so. After she becomes queen she is disappointed that Kwon Tae-byeong is in fact the Crown Prince Shin; a young heartthrob who fights with her endlessly over everyday issues. However, her affectionate feelings toward Shin grow, once she starts living inside the palace and learns of the boredom and loneliness he experiences. At the same time, she is confused by the feelings she has toward Yool, whom she meets after she has already decided to get married to Shin. Chae-kyeong quickly and profoundly observes the hidden desires and secrets of power found inside of the elegant palace better than anyone else. She becomes a central character that changes not only the palace itself but also all the other characters in the palace.
She is a perfectionist who has everything, including good looks, money, and brains. Love-calls from the royal household asking her to be the daughter-in-law are endlessly pouring in. Her interest in becoming the empress of the Republic of Korea and making Shin her own, grows. However, too suddenly she awakens from her dream of becoming the queen when Shin, her lover, has an arranged marriage with Chae-kyeong. She is hostile toward Chae-kyeong; the young woman who is her worst enemy, having stolen her dreams, and constantly attempts to recover her self-esteem and win over Shin셲 love. Also, when she approaches Yool, ranked second in succession, and sees the potential of realizing her ambitions, she is perplexed by the unexpected change in emotions she experiences. A character that provides an important change in the triangular and quadrilateral relationship composed of Chae-kyeong, Shin and Yool. She's an intelligent woman who knows to sacrifice something small for a realistic gain. Her efforts at obtaining her dreams and goals are purer and more passionate than anyone else셲.
Second-in-line in succession to the throne. Having spent most of his life abroad, he feels less aversion towards the palace than Shin, and due to his innate optimistic character, intelligence, and down-to-earth attitude, everyone loves him. While Shin is straightforward in his behavior, Yool thoughtfully and philosophically considers his actions. He feels deep affection and sympathy toward his mother, who had a difficult time in raising him alone and therefore understands his mother's avarice toward power; he himself slowly begins to express interest in the throne. Yul develops an interest in Chae-kyeong when he first meets her as he transfers to a private school. He grows to love her so much that he considers the crown for the first time when he learns that the marriage promise of the king concerns the grandson who will be crowned among the two grandsons of the king. Although he keeps his distance from Hyo-rin, who approaches him knowing that he's ranked second in succession to the throne, he gets to understand her pure desire and experiences another change in feelings in his relationship with her. Like a plant absorbing water, he gets involved in the situation of regal authority and in Hyo-rin, naturally falling in love with her and becoming the rival for the one-and-only successor to the crown.

Princess Hours is a drama that starts with the interesting premise. What if modern Korea were a constitutional monarchy with a king? and offers two types of fun the romance arising between a noble prince and an ordinary girl, and the familiarity of all this happening in modern-day
Korea. A perfect boy from a noble bloodline, with good looks and a sense of unpolished beauty has to marry against his will at the age of 17. An ordinary girl from an ordinary family, with a clumsy character, average grades and average looks oversteps the prejudice and barriers surrounding her. The process how they fall in love with each other unfolds with excitement.
Shin Chae-kyeong and Lee Shin, because they dont know each other well, go through numerous incidents in which they end up fighting. Chae-kyeong witnesses the scene where Lee Shin proposes to another woman to avoid their arranged marriage and this is how the two become fully aware of each other's feelings. The story evolves from the fact that Chae – kyoung's grandfather was very close to the former monarch, whose wish was for her and Shin to get married. This gives some impetus to the otherwise unrealistic union of the two. As the drama progresses, many other fine men, including Lee Yool, a cousin of the royal family, make their appearance. The story of the two characters, who keep quarreling about structural problems such as the rules of the royal household in the midst of the difficulties of being a prince and of the arranged marriage, will unfold in an interesting way. The show s fun lies in the episodes concerning the status gap that exists between a prince and an ordinary citizen. As more problems of status arise, the uniqueness of being a prince will be more greatly exposed, and doubling the fun of Princess Hours. When the kings illness gets worse, Crown Prince Shin receives an order to get married his arranged marriage partner. Shin realizes that there have never been personal choices available in the life of a Crown Prince, though he's only nineteen. Prince Shin proposes to his girlfriend Min Hyo-rin. Taking it as a joke, Hyo-rin shows her cute smile and takes off to practice for an international ballet competition. Shin doesnt hold onto her but just smiles faintly as she turns away and leaves…. Chae-kyeong has a dad who stays at home as a full time house-husband after his business failed and a mom who works as an insurance consultant. Chae-kyeong's family, which was able to create happiness in the midst of difficult times, suddenly becomes in-laws with the royal household. To Chae-kyeongs parents everything seems much more like a dream, as they see that the arranged marriage grandfather always boasted of become realized. Chae-kyeong cries out loud, not willing to accept the fact that she has to get married at the age of nineteen, but Shin accepts the marriage, not caring about who becomes the queen. To him, shes not a person he ll ever love anyways and she ll just live in the palace like a doll. Meanwhile, Hyo-rin engages herself only in her ballet practice abroad without knowing about her boyfriend s marriage. Yool, second – in – line to the crown and the son of Crown Prince Hyo – yeol, who abandoned his position 15 years ago and left with his wife for England, comes back to his motherland. Upon hearing this news, the king instinctively senses the danger of Crown Prince Shin losing the crown and orders Shin to be careful of Yool. Shin just laughs at the fight over the crown and ignores the king s words. Chae-kyeong enters the Oon-hyeon palace, the palace of the new queen - bride, to get educated as the future queen. Shin, who visits the detached palace, is stunned by the beautiful presence of Chae-kyeong in her ceremonial dress…

Episode Summary:
Eps. 1 In the 14th year of Inhwa dynasty when the Hyun emperor's illness gets worse than ever, the empress commands the Crown Prince, still in high school, to marry the bride who has been arranged for him beforehand. However Prince Shin, proposes to his secret lover, Hyo-rin Min, an ambitious ballet student who takes his proposal as a joke and turns him down saying that her success as a ballerina is of her primary concern. Meanwhile, the family of Chae-kyeong, an ordinary high school student, is in deep financial trouble for standing security for the wrong person, and is overwhelmed with joy when they receive the marriage proposal from the Royal Family. The last words of their dying grandfather wasn't a bluff after all! Prince Shin agrees to marry the all-too-ordinary prearranged bride provided the Chang-DukPalace be granted independence and the IkWiSa be reduced. However, Chae-kyeong, who had happened to witness Prince Shin's proposal to Hyo-rin, is outraged by the arranged marriage, and claims it is nullified. Right at that moment, the creditors march in to Chae-kyeong's house and put red cards on all of the furniture.
Eps. 2 Chae-kyeong, therefore, has no choice but to marry the prince due to her family's financial crisis. But things aren't easy, right from the first encounter with the Royal Family. Moreover, seeing that the prince has no affection for her whatsoever, showing careless cynical behavior throughout the wedding process, Chae-kyeong comes to regret accepting the proposal. But it's too late; the Royal Marriage is the top news in the press, and Chae-kyeong's house is crowded with reporters. Yool, the son of Prince Hyo-yul who died in an unfortunate car crash 14 years ago, hurries back to Korea under the urgent order of his mother – princess Hye-jung, eager to the win back her husband's throne. In the airport, he runs into Hyo-rin, who has just returned from her contest but they don't recognize each other. Yool has been studying fine art in England, and transfers to a high school for arts, where Shin and Chae-kyeong are also students. Unlike Shin, who tries to be friends with Yool, his mother, the Empress, feels a shade of anxiety upon Yool's reappearance…
Eps. 3 At last, Chae-kyeong has made up her mind to join the Royal Family. Lessons for becoming a proper Crown Princess start as she enters the palace. She has to endure hard training, which includes learning proper ways to talk, memorizing the whole wedding process, etc., with the Prince showing no interest nor offering any help to her. Life in the palace is not an easy task from day one. A huge ceremony is held to welcome the new Crown Princess, and with the entire country as witness, Shin and Chae- kyeong are wed in the traditional 21st century Royal procedure. Meanwhile, Hyo-rin, who had previously rejected Shin's proposal, stands at a ballet stage in Thailand…
Eps. 4 On the first day after the wedding, Shin and the rest of the adults in the Royal Family go out to fight a little war to ensure they receive what was promised to them for granting the marriage. While Shin is being very serious, Chae-kyeong, on the other hand is busy enjoying the privileges of being the Crown Princess and is slowly adapting to life as a Royal. Chae-kyeong and Shin go to school but Chae-kyeong gets treated like an outcast; the only person that actually talks to her is Yool. Shin runs into Hyo-rin, who has came back from her contest…
Eps. 5 Chae-kyeong, after making her morning calls to the elders of the royal family, is surprised to see Yool inside the palace. Yool, a transfer student in her class, turns out to be prince Ui-seong. At first Chae-kyeong has a hard time adjusting to life in the palace with its strict education and rules, but thanks to the warmth of the emperor and other elders at the palace she starts to find the royal culture attractive. Meanwhile, Hwa-yeong prepares to open a yoga center while plotting with Choi against the other royal family members, while Yool gets closer to Chae-kyeong and her friends. Prince Shin's birthday is coming soon, and Chae-kyeong starts to get excited about the birthday party, but the only people awaiting her are Shin's friends, who despise her, and Hyo-rin…
Eps. 6 Thanks to Yool's help, Chae-kyeong looks good in the eyes of the Queen Mother. In addition, after attending a number of events with Shin, she becomes well known to the public and loved by them for her plain looks and free spirit. Yool tells her she should carry herself with dignity but she ignores his advice. At the opening of the yoga center Hwa-yeong meets Hyo-rin and finds out that she is the Crown Prince's ex-girlfriend, and when the Empress later finds out the Hwa-yeong has secretly come to Korea and opened a yoga center, she is greatly displeased. Meanwhile, at the palace a party is held to announce the officially married Crowned Prince and his wife to the ambassadors of the constitutional monarchy.
Eps. 7 Kam-ae-tta-la starts to feel uneasy as Chae-kyeong adjusts to the palace life. As Hyo-rin thinks back on the good days with Shin she remembers what Hwa-young told her and is determined to get Shin back. Meanwhile, Chae-kyeong misses her family because she hasn't seen them since she moved into the palace. But soon she and the prince are finally allowed to go visit her family. Chae-kyeong is very happy to be back home but Shin has a hard time adjusting, due to the fact that he has lived his whole life in the palace. Chae-kyeong's family also feels uncomfortable living in the same house with the him. Chae-kyeong and Shin, who quarrel frequently, end up spending a night together in Chae-kyeong's small room.
Eps. 8 Chae-kyeong and Shin return to the palace and after spending time with Chae-kyeong's happy and close-knit family. Shin feels sad to see his family who has always been under the control of his strict father, the King. Seeing this, Chae-kyeong comforts him and Shin prepares a car just for her. Persuaded by Hyo-rin, Chae-kyeong and Yool join an equestrian club. Not knowing why Hyo-rin invited Chae-kyeong into the club, Shin's friends are dissatisfied with the whole idea. Meanwhile, Shin goes to Thailand in place of the Emperor, who couldn't go because of health reasons.
Eps. 9 While Shin is away in Thailand Chae-kyeong gets lonely and gets in trouble for breaking the car. After overhearing some girls at school talk bad about her she gets hurt and asks Yool to just take her away from the palace some place far away from it all. In, Kyeong, Hwan, and Hyo-rin all go to Thailand. Hyo-rin meets up with Shin and asks him to take her to the airport and the two end up spending a day together. Meanwhile, back at the palace Chae-kyeong has disappeared…
Eps. 10 After taking Hyo-rin to the airport Shin makes it to the press conference just in time and gives an outstanding speech. Meanwhile, back at the palace Chae-kyeong gets confined to the palace for leaving the palace walls without permission. Yool after seeing Chae-kyeong get in trouble asks Hwa-young to make him the crowned prince. With the help of Yool, Chae-kyeong successfully finishes the welcoming ceremony for Prince William and Hwa-young starts finding back her and her son's rights as a royal family by asking the emperor to replace back to them Emperor Hyo-yeol's powers. Chae-kyeong, who has been waiting for Shin to get back from Thailand, finally sees him...
Eps. 11 Chae-kyeong insists on riding her horse alone even though the court ladies try everything in their power to dissuade her. While riding her horse she accidentally runs into a stranger in the palace who turns out to be princess Hye-myeong, Shin's older sister. Shin is happy to see his sister, whom he hasn't seen for a long time and uncharacteristically shows his softer side to her, telling her his deepest thoughts. The paparazzi photos of Hyo-rin and Shin get reported in the Thai newspapers. The Empress sees the newspaper and gets angry at Shin. Chae-kyeong also finds out about it and gets angry at herself for missing Shin while he was away in Thailand, not knowing that he was with Hyo-rin. Chae-kyeong and Hyo-rin run into each other at school and Chae-kyeong asks her about what really happened in Thailand between the two, but instead of showing a sorry attitude Hyo-rin shows a very dignified attitude causing Chae-kyeong to faint in front of her friends.
Eps. 12 Shin tells Chae-kyeong that he is going to withdraw from being Crowned Prince, and she starts to feel frustrated because she does not know his true feelings. Chae-kyeong tries her best to get closer to him but the more she tries the more frustrated and angry she gets through finding traces of Hyo-rin. Eventually she gets into a fight with Shin and breaks into tears. In the palace the plans for the restoration of Prince Yool's power are in their final stages and Hwa-young and Yool get ready to move back into the palace. The entrance of a new power figure starts to create a division between people of the court over whom they are going to be loyal to, and the Empress and Hwa-young are busy keeping each other in check. The Empress Dowager, who has the final power in deciding whether or not the powers get restored to Hwa-young and Yool, doesn't know whether giving them the power is the right thing to do or not. Yool and Shin bump into each other in the palace and start a nerve war. Meanwhile, the Empress Dowager takes Chae-kyeong to ChejuIsland to attend a formal royal event.
Eps. 13 The Empress Dowager, Shin and Chae-kyeong go on a little road trip around Cheju. Shin and Chae-kyeong try everything they can to cheer up the Empress Dowager. The kids at school start looking at Yool through different eyes when they see his new style. Meanwhile, the Empress is busy keeping her eyes on Hwa-young, who has moved into the palace. Hwa-young, scolds the Crown Princess for being lazy and for forgetting about her role and responsibilities as the Crown Princess. After the pictures of Hyo-rin and Shin have been revealed to the public, bad rumors of Shin and Chae-kyeong start to go around. Worried, the adults of the family gather to discuss a plan to stop them before they get any bigger. They decide to have the couple get into the bridal bed. Having no idea of the plan, Shin drinks some medicine that he was told is good for his body and Chae-kyeong gets all dressed up. Chae-kyeong sits in a room with her court ladies wondering what in the world is going on when she hears Shin coming into the room.
Eps.14 After hearing about the couple getting into bed together Yool runs over to see Chae-kyeong. She tells him that nothing happened between her and Shin, and he hugs her, relieved from the unthinkable thought of the two spending the night together. Shin sees this and gets very angry at Yool. Chae-kyeong's friends get angry at Hyo-rin for starting the rumors and start to criticize her. Chae-kyeong learns a secret about Hyo-rin and starts to feel uncomfortable. Someone leaves a picture inside the Crown Princess's room. Chae-kyeong is shocked when she sees it and disappears. Shin and Yool soon hear that she has disappeared and instantly go out looking for her.
Eps. 15 After finding Chae-kyeong in the Myung-sun Dang, Shin takes her to a place where they can be alone, where they proceed to spill their hearts out and tell their true feelings towards each other. The violence between Yool and Shin becomes known throughout the palace. Hwa-young tells the Empress that she is not going to stand by and watch stuff like this happen ever again, raising the conflict between her and the Empress. The Emperor calls Shin (his son) and harshly scolds him, causing Shin to rebel against him. Despite all the malicious gossip about the Crown Prince and Princess they attend a public conference. When the reporters ask for a loving pose Shin displays his showmanship. Meanwhile, the Empress Dowager senses the tense atmosphere of the palace and suggests that the whole royal family should have a meal together.
Eps. 16 Shin and Chae-kyeong leave on a short honeymoon together. Hyo-rin leaves on a trip to where she can find traces of Shin and her love. After getting the cold shoulder from Shin, Hyo-rin remembers what Hwa-young once told her and once again makes a firm determination not to give up. Because of Hyo-rin, Shin and Chae-kyeong feel awkward again and Chae-kyeong starts to feel confused when Yool tells her to leave Shin so he can be with Hyo-rin. The Empress finds out about Hwa-young's plans and starts to take action… Just then the Crown Prince's scandal gets known to the public and the palace goes into distress about the matter. The Emperor calls Shin and begins seriously considering whether or not Shin is fit for being Crown Prince.
Eps. 17 Chae-kyeong gets angry at Shin for leaving the palace for a while without telling her where he was going. She asks him why he always keeps everything to himself and worries alone. Hearing this he suddenly hugs her and asks her to stay by his side even after he resigns from being Crown Prince. Meanwhile, Hyo-rin, who has come to the palace at the Empress's request, receives an offer from the Empress to support her. Yool asks the Emperor permission for the Crown Prince and Princess to accompany him on his vacation for his birthday party.
Eps. 18 The criticisms of whether the Crown Prince is good enough or not keep rising; even the Emperor starts wondering if Yool is more fit for the spot. Meanwhile, Hyo-rin discusses with Shin her education plans. Yool tells Chae-kyeong, who is feeling miserable at hearing that Hyo-rin and Shin had once promised to go abroad and study together, how he feels about her. Shin's jealousy begins to boil when her sees the two together…
Eps. 19 Chae-kyeong gets confused about all the trouble she got into with Shin at Yool's birthday party. Watching her, Shin feels sorry and apologizes to her but she doesn't take his apology and instead their anger toward each other deepens. Chae-kyeong hears a rumor about her parents saying that they are profiting with the help of the palace. Hearing this she starts to feel the palace life more and more stuffy and choking. Shin senses her feelings and lets her get away from everything by having her go home for a night. The Empress finds out about it and scolds her for doing whatever she wants to do even though she is the princess. Chae-kyeong gets her feeling hurt and runs out of the palace.
Eps. 20 Because of an unexpected incident Chae-kyeong ends up in the middle of a rumor. She meets her greatest crisis after becoming Crown Princess and wanting to figure out a way to stop the rumors on her own she refuses help from Shin and Yool. Shin becomes angry at seeing Chae-kyeong worrying about how to fix her mistakes and orders the Myung Seong Dang to be repaired, but this just causes the Emperor, Hwa-young and Yool to get angrier and more frustrated. After seeing Shin isolate himself from the others of the palace, the Empress calls him to talk as mother and son. She tells him about what she wishes for him. After seeing Hyo-rin working towards of becoming her dream to become a ballerina, he thinks again of his dreams and what he really wants. He finds that his future includes Chae-kyeong and the Empress's wish and goes to the interview with a firm attitude.
Eps. 21 Shin barely manages to cover up for Chae-kyeong's surprise announcement. The adults of the royal family get very angry at Chae-kyeong's actions, which were not in line with the ordinary palace rules. Seeing this, Shin feels sad and angry at the same time. Because of the incident, the scandal of the crown princess blows up again and Hwa-young gets nervous so she decides to use Chae-kyeong as the scapegoat to protect her son. Chae-kyeong kneels in front of the Emperor to ask for his forgiveness and cries, and Shin just ignores her. Because of the incident Shin's ability to be Emperor gets questioned and as this deepens Yool gains trust from the Emperor. In the middle of all this, however, Yool can't stand looking at Chae-kyeong having such a hard time and reveals his feelings in front of all the royal adults.
Eps. 22 Yool tries his best to keep faithful to his heart even if it means breaking the rules. Shin insists that rules and regulations are the strength that holds the palace together. Even though their ways of following them and carrying them out are different, the person they want to protect are the same. Chae-kyeong also feels bad watching the people she loves and cares for getting hurt, while the reasons and reality also grow farther and farther apart. Meanwhile, the Emperor worries about the behavior of Yool and the other royal family members. Shin goes to Hwa-young and warns her that if she does any more harm to Chae-kyeong that she is going to pay the price, but even with his warning her ambitions continue to grow…
Eps. 23 Shin gets driven into a corner as an arson suspect. He insists that he is innocent but all the evidence leads back to him. Only Chae-kyeong believes him to be innocent and feels bad looking at his drooping shoulders. Shin, knowing that someone actually cares and loves him, doesn't feel lonely anymore and calmly handles the situation. Yool senses that it was all part of his mother's plan and tells her to stop whatever she's planning on doing but she does not know how to stop or even control her ambitions. As more incidents happen the existence of the palace starts to get questioned by the people and in order to stop all the rumors the Emperor suggests that the crown princess should practice more self-discipline. Chae-kyeong also thinks that as crown princess she should do it for the palace and the people, so she agrees but… Chae-kyeong wants to show Shin the world that she once lived in so the two go out together into the everyday world, not as the royal couple but as a normal couple and enjoy a day out away from the palace.
Eps. 24 As the investigation of the arson incident furthers and the facts about it get revealed Shin gets more and more accused of being the cause of it. In the midst of all this Chae-kyeong and Shin's feelings towards each other grow even stronger and they fight together to get through this storm. The two already resemble each other regardless of Chae-kyeong having told him that she has studied hard to be fit for him. The Emperor once said that "Apart from the truth of the incident, the person worthy of the imperial throne is the one who receives the love and honor of the people." Hwa-young smiles a smile of satisfaction and throws in her last card. The Empress sees that Chae-kyeong has slowly started to show the qualities of a crown princess and for the first time they actually sit down and talk with each other. The Empress encourages her and gives her strength. With the warming concerns of her mother-in-law and a token of love from her husband, Chae-kyeong feels a responsibility to protect her new family and once again rises with a firm determination to protect them.

What I Think:
Wow, I am at a loss as to how to start this, all I know is that Princess Hours is my top 1 favorite Korean series, MY Girl is second and Full House is already in the third spot. J
Let's start with the actors:
Joo Ji Hoon – This is the first time I saw him act, and this is also Joo Ji-hoon's drama debut. There were some scenes where he was so cold, reserved, distant and aloof, no wonder Chaegyung was attracted to Yul who is his exact opposite. But I figured it was just his character, this guy can really bring it on in the dramatic scenes, he has a number of dramatic parts that showed his prowess in acting and crying too. Oh I love the Royal wardrobe! Though his clothes have lots of frills, and pastels in it, he could carry it off with finesse though. Isn't Prince Shin's supposed to be a jerk? To me he doesn't seem it; he is lonely and has never seen life in all its colors. It just breaks my heart when I see him try to keep Chaegyung by his side without revealing his true feelings for her. He just stole my heart! Oh doesn't he look like Lee Ji-Hoon (of Wonderful Life) and Max of TVXQ?
Yoon Eun Hye – It is just amazing how much I love this series and it has no single Korean wave star in it. I think it is just well and good that she got the part of Chaegyung coz had Moon Guen Young (who is also my fave) got it,it wouldn't be that great coz MGY still has inhibitions. Anyway YEH, the first time I saw her, she is not totally the knock-me-off my feet beautiful kind but she is adorably cute! I absolutely love her! She is good actress and I like it when she cries because her forehead, cheeks, tips of nose and lips turn red; she looks so cute. Her clothes too, she looks so good in all of them, my fave clothes are the blue dress she wore to the dinner where she and Shin ballroom danced, the green casual dress with poncho where the Queen Dowager even said she looks pretty in it. And I think that Chaegyung is prettier than Hyorin especially when she gets dolled up, Hyorin can look plain in a lot of scenes. Is this just me or not coz I do not like the way CG wears her gym pants under her school skirt.
Kim Jung Hoon – I have been his fan since I already forgot when, I love UN! I am a big UN fan! He is such a great piano player! This is the first time I saw him act, I did not even knew that he is in this series so it is such a pleasant surprise when I saw him here. There was never a scene with him in it that I never said "Oh god he is so handsome!"Acting-wise, he is really good with the melancholy, in-trance parts, but I think he has a hard time crying, I just think he does. He has also great clothes; he especially looks good wearing the school uniform! At first I felt that he should be the one with Chaegyung, but then when Shin started opening up, I just knew it that Shin belongs to Chaegyung and her to him. So I guess I will have Yul then huh? I love the way he pouts his lips! Oh and I hate the way he like brainwashes Chaegyung, always telling her she and Shin don't match.
Song Ji Hyo – I was so engrossed at watching the whole Shin – Chaegyung- Yul dynamics that I have no time at all too think of Hyorin. I guess she doesn't have parts where she can really shine. She is a good actress, she was okay for the part. I was thinking that if Han Chae Young (Chunyang) or Han Ji Hye (Sweet 18) got the part of Hyorin, I think they are just both too much perky, So Ji Hyo is just right for that part I guess. One thing about her character was the way she willingly let got of Shin when she realized that he needs to spread his wings and that he needs to be with Chaegyung. I just love it about her.
@ I absolutely love this series!! I love the actors, the soundtrack, and the clothes! This series just rocks out my life! Shin is so endearing, Chaegyung is so cute, Yul is so hot; the nicest one ever! I cannot wait for season 2 with the same cast, if ever that pushes through.
I cannot believe Prince Shin stole my heart just like that! Maybe coz most K-series' couples they never even hold hands or kiss, but our Shin, he always holds (or drags) CG's hands, he kisses her, he always wants to be with her and he is so assertive when it comes to Chaegyung ("She is my wife! I am your husband..etc.) .
@ There were lots of shots of the Palace grounds that I really like, the cinematography is great, director is so great and everything is flawless!
@ The pregnancy: Funny coz at the end of the last episode CG was pregnant, and I was like when was she pregnated?! So I was like re-watching the last 4 cds before that, and I found it in ep 23 CG was having hiccups, and Shin said to her, are you going to hiccup until the morning? Hehe, that means they spend the night together. J I love their family picture at the end with their future son!
@ MY FAVE SCENES: I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE WHAT THE HECK! J
+ Chaegyung wetted/ ruined Shin's shoes.
+ Chaegyung overhearing Shin's proposal to Hyorin
+ When Chaegyung and Shin looked at each other's middle school pictures and realized it is the person they're betrothed to! Chaegyung's middle school pic is hilarious! She cried over that!
+ Yul arrives at the palace. Handsome!
+ Yul's first day in school and him saying Chaegyung is cute when he saw her middle school pic.
+ The Tong Ne/ Wedding Night ceremony
+ Chaegyung doing the Aja connect-our-pointer fingers thing with Yul, he was amazed at her then (I love this gesture so much, that my friend and I do this thing when we say Aja! J

Summary:
Joo Yoorin (Lee Da Hae) is a tour guide in a small company in charge of running mini tours in the Jeju Island of South Korea. Her father is a gambling addict, but despite all the debts that he runs up, Yoorin always finds a way to help repay them. She leads a below-average life but is happy as long as she has her dad around her. Because of her father's gambling ways, she has had to move from country to country whenever her father runs from one place to another to avoid their debtors. This has in turn brought her the ability to converse fluently in Chinese and Japanese, which are of great help as a tour guide whenever she has to entertain tourists from China and Japan.
Seol Gongchan (Lee Dong Wook) is the only heir of the owner of L'Avenuel Hotel, which is one of the top hotels in Korea. His grandfather, Seol Woong, charges him with the duty of finding his granddaughter, who is also Gongchan's cousin. Seol Woong had disowned his own daughter, Gongchan's aunt, when she decided to marry a man not of his choice. However, when Seol Woong had a change of heart and wished to accept his daughter back, an earthquake struck where his daughter lived, and since then, he has lost all contact with his kin and perhaps the chance to make amends for his own stubbornness, to take care of his granddaughter and hopefully make things right.
Kim Seohyun (Park Si Yeon) is the girlfriend of Seol Gongchan. A rising star in the tennis world, she returns to Korea to look for Gongchan as she cannot forget him.
Seo Jung Woong (Lee Jun Ki) is the son of one of the main shareholders of L'Avenuel Hotel and also the best friend of Seol Gongchan. Unlike Gongchan who is responsible and hardworking, Jung Woong is a flirt who is known to have many girlfriends.
The story starts with Yoorin rushing to the airport. She is helping her friend delay a flight so that the tourists of her friend will not miss their flight. Out of ideas, she plays a damsel in distress, who is apparently mourning her impending death and her dying wish to see her boyfriend who is apparently on the flight. And so after much crying and the entire airport empathizing with her, she gets to get on board the plane to look for her boyfriend who never really existed. As she walks, she realizes she cannot find anyone and pretends to faint. Alas, she faints beside the seat of our male lead, Seol Gongchan, who knows a liar when he sees one. Although their first encounter is weird, it doesn't leave much of an impression in each other's mind.
Later, however, when Gongchan has to entertain a bunch of Chinese visitors and realizes he has no translator, he engages the services of Yoorin coincidentally and through Yoorin, his potential Chinese investors have a great time at the L'Avenuel Hotel branch in Jeju, and Yoorin has much credit to claim for it.
After a series of comical events including Yoorin staying at his hotel lodge without paying, and Yoorin selling his hotel fruityard's oranges to make a small profit (to clear her father's debts again), Gongchan's impression of Yoorin is one of a cheat and he would want to do anything to distance himself from her.
But then word from mainland Korea is that his grandfather is dying and at his bedside, Seol Woong, through his respirator, can only meekly repeat that he must not and cannot die until he sees his granddaughter again.
Driven by desperation and his love for his grandfather, Gongchan will do anything to ease his burden. When pointed out by his secretary that Yoorin bears a resemblance to his aunt, Gongchan hatches a plan to pass off Yoorin as his grandfather's long-lost granddaughter whilst he carries on searching for the real one.
Yoorin, who is desperate for money to repay her father's debt, is unwilling to do the job as it involves lying to a dying man, something that she staunchly refuses to do. But when Seol Gongchan desperately begs her and she realizes she is somewhat indebted to him for not bringing her to the police after her little business in his hotel, she caves in and pretends to the long-lost granddaughter.
And so things seem to be going well, with the search for Gongchan's long-lost cousin making progress and perhaps more importantly, the improvement of Gongchan's grandfather's conditions thanks to Yoorin. As Yoorin spends more time with Gongchan's family, she gets showered with the love she never received as a child and finds herself drawn to Gongchan. She finds herself changing from the liar that she once was to a person who tries to tell the truth when she can. But she knows all too well that her one-sided love will never materialize as the difference in social status between Gongchan and herself is too big.
But unknown to her, Gongchan is also slowly being drawn to her...

What I Think:
Let us start with the cast:
Lee Dong Wook – When I showed his picture to my friend, she’s like “Does Korea have a Cutie Oppa Factory or what?” This is the first time that I have seen him act and I must say that he is quite a good actor. In the sappy scenes where he needs to really let it all out, he did well, he can act and he can cry too. I love the way he smiles and does stupid things to pursue Lee Dae Hee. They got great chemistry. His fashion too, oh I must say, in the series “Memories in Bali” I absolutely didn’t like the all-black get up of So Ji Sup. But Lee Dong Wook he can strut his fashion stuff quite well. He is so handsome! Aish!
Lee Dae Hee – I absolutely love Lee Dae Hee now! I loved her in here a lot better than in “Green Rose” I swear after that series I was not sure if I can stand another LDH series… I absolutely love her now! She is actually a good comedic actress and she looks so beautiful! She’s like Song Hye Kyo but taller, like Kim Sam Soon but prettier, like Chunyang but a lot more fragile. She is so funny and her hair looks so perky, and then she is really good with drama and the sappy stuff. She can churn up great chemistry with Lee Dong Wook and and an even greater chemistry with Lee Jung Ki. Plus her clothes are not a bore. J
Lee Jung Ki – Believe me this drama opened up my eyes to a lot of things, and realizing that Lee Jung Ki is a good actor is one of those! When I saw him in Showbiz Extra, I was like “Holy clouds he looks like a girl! What the smokes are these women groveling at now!Puhhleezee not him!” But after watching this series, I was beginning to go nuts over him too. He’s a good actor but there were lesser scenes that he can show these skills though. He looks good in a weird way to me, I absolutely love all his smash ball scenes with Lee Dong Wook coz his hair gets all messed up, ha, he looks so much better that way. There were lots of times in this series did I feel that Jung Woong (LJK) was more deserving of Yoorin (LDH) than Gongchan (LDW).
Park Shi Yeon – This is the also the first drama that I have seen her act. You know what it was not only until episode 7 that I realized that she is The Park Shi Yeon: Eric Moon of Shinhwa’s girlfriend! Ha I know episode 7! She also has lesser scenes to like really shine and show her acting skills in this series. I did not find her pretty at all too, isn’t she suppose to be a former Ms. Korea or something? I think she has this ultra-emphasized high cheek bones and a mouth that pouts she reminds me of a mouse. But anyhow, she did okay in her role as Lee Dong Wook’s jealous and clingy girlfriend, I got annoyed with her character coz she can’t let go of Gongchan up until the end.
Scenes to watch out for:
** All the smash ball scenes of Lee Jung Ki and Lee Dong Wook! Two of the hottest stars in kpop together in one hot, sweaty, and sporty scene! I absolutely loved these scenes! It is in this scenes where I realized that well Lee Jung Ki, with his hair all messy, can look really, reallyhot. ^_^they are both good in smash ball too.
** Jung Woong gave Yoorin a snowman for her birthday and he said “This snowman is yours and this one too… (He held her hand and pressed it to his heart!)” I know he’s corny but what the heck! God! I was so so solooking forward to this scene and then it was that short..aish!
** Lee Jung Ki telling Yoorin “It is going to hurt if you will love him.”
** The stupid things Yoorin’s dad does! I swear I really want to strangle him myself already!
** Gongchan giving Yoorin a snow globe for her birthday.
** Scenes where Jung Woong and Yoorin are going out, eating, getting twin stuff toys.
** The night lights scene where Yoorin told Gongchan to count 1- 5 and then after counting 5, open your eyes and you’ll see the face of the person you will fall for. He did, the lights went on and he saw Yoorin. ^_^
** Movie watching of Gongchan, Yoorin and Jung Woong then she fell asleep, when her head fell down, both guys went on to hold her head but Jung Woong held her first and made her head rest on his shoulders. I love the camera capture there!
** Gongchan and Yoorin accidentally kissing.
** Yoorin realizing that Jung Woong really likes her and saying “Oh my I think he also fell in the wraths of my attractiveness!” Hilarious!
** Jung Woong proposing to Yoorin.
** Yoorin’s “Obvious Song” I absolutely like this song, Lee Dae He looks so adorable here! If Song Hye Kyo is to 3 Bear Song, Lee Dae Hee is to Obvious Song. ^_^ It’s episode 13 if you wanna check it.
** Gongchan kissing Yoorin and telling her he loves her.
Other Stuff:
** The ending interviews: where Lee Dae Hee said “If it is only me, I would go to Jung Woong oppa... Hehehe” Funny coz I have a feeling that she is closer to Lee Jung Ki than Lee Dong Wook coz I have also seen their videos in youtube and they have NGs andfunny moments all over the place.

After winning his first competition, Takumi focuses his attention on drift racing, a sport he has unknowingly perfected while delivering tofu in his father's Toyota AE86
Jay Chou is Takumi Fujiwara, a high school student in Japan whose days are spent working at a gas station and mumbling in a dopey manner. He also quietly lusts after supreme jailbait classmate Natsuki (Anne Suzuki), and hangs with blowhard pal Itsuki (Chapman To, playing 15 years younger than his actual age). Takumi doesn't look like a special guy, but he does have a hidden talent: street racing, and not just any street racing. Takumi uses an old Toyota Trueno AE86 and clocks insane times on the Mt. Akina downhill, all by applying the technique of "drifting," i.e. skidding around corners without losing much speed in the process (NOTE: This is a layman's explanation. We apologize in advance to drifting masters everywhere.). However, Takumi does not own the mountain with his racing prowess; instead, he uses his insane drifting skills to get home as soon as possible after delivering tofu for his dad Bunta (Anthony Wong). If Takumi smokes anyone on the way home, it's just a coincidence. That exact coincidence leads to the eventual outing of Mt.Akina's hidden racing god. Takeshi Nakazato (Shawn Yu), leader of the Night Kids racing team, shows up at Takumi's workplace looking to take on the "Akina Racing God," but unfortunately Itsuki claims the title, and subsequently gets embarrassed on Mt.Akina's slopes. But after Nakazato gets creamed by a returning-from-delivery Takumi, he re-ups his challenge at the gas station...except nobody seems to know who beat Nakazato. Takumi's too busy acting morose and fantasizing about a potential beach date with Natsuki to take up the challenge. But Yuuichi (Kenny Bee), Itsuki's dad and Takumi's boss at the gas station, knows that it was Takumi behind the wheel, and pressures Bunta into getting his son to race. Bunta offers to lend Takumi the car for his date, as long as Takumi beats Nakazato in his first "official" street race. Presto, an illegal racing god is born, which leads to new challengers, including Ryosuke Takahashi (Edison Chen), the leader of the Red Suns racing team, and Kyoichi Sudo (Jordan Chan), an actual racing professional who takes on Takumi to avenge a buddy. Meanwhile, Takumi ponders his future in a quiet, morose manner, and the audience waits for the next CG-assisted car race.
Wow! I have long wanted to see this movie because I am a really big fan of the anime series until Animax started to put some lousy tagalong dubbing! (But I still love Matteo Guidicelli)
All the songs used in this series is really good! I bet the OST is awesome! I know Jay Chou and Edison Chen sang a few songs here coz I heard their songs played in the movie. The intro song played at the beginning while Takumi was delivering tofu is awesome!! "Nobody interfere with my delivery.." Ahhhhh!!! It has got to be my last song syndrome! Another nice song was the song played at the gas station while Takumi was staring into blank space. Every instrumental song played in the background is perfect for every scene and these background songs drive me nuts! The Initial D OST is awesome!! I want it!
Jay, Edison, Shaun now tell me who is hotter?! They are the hottest racing men! Okay let us check them one by one. First Jay, I believe this is Jay first major acting role. Jay is a good singer (He's one of my faves.) and for his first out take in acting, he did good actually. There was one scene where he found out about Natsuki's stuff; he cannot cry, he was almost forcing himself to kinda cry, rubbing his eyes and all. But with Jay he's got really nice expressive eyes, and he did fairly well for his first shot at acting. Jay!! I love your songs here!! J He was really cheeky and chummy with his girl Natsuki too, wasn't afraid to hold her hand in public and stuff. Ohh those nice dimples! Those darn nice dimples!!
Edison Chen next, this guy is a pro! If he did sang those English background songs well he is the man! I loved his songs! And his acting is awesome! He was always the cool and in-control Ryousuke and he can be Takumi's friend too. And have I told you he has got the must beautiful (colored?) eyes? I just like his eyes a lot.
Shun Yue is next. My god! He looks really different here! The last time I saw him act was in "Tomorrow: The White Book of Love." In Initial D he has shorter hair, has a beard and wears slicker, hipper, sporty clothes! At first, he came on like the antagonist to Takumi but then it is just a race after all, and he turned out okay. He doesn't looks sullen like in "Tomorrow."
I really need to get the OST! IT is driving me crazy! The opening and the closing credits song in this movie is really awesome!! The closing song is sung by Jay Chou while the opening which is an all-English song I bet must be sung by Edison.
Really nice scenes:
** I like the fact that Bunta was supportive of his son's wanting to race. He did not stop him from pursuing his dreams. He even helped him fix his car when it cloncked out.
** Takumi and Natsuki's beach date. Now that was a lot of fun, they took lots of pictures together; they turned my insides into mush! Then the major mushy part was when Natsuki started holding Takumi's hand and Takumi half grinned and intertwined his hand on hers!!! O Draconian Devil!! ! Jay Chou is God's gift to womankind!! The background song was really nice here too.
** Takumi's AE86 wining against Nakazato's GTR.
** Natsuki visiting Takumi at home and him walking her home, just holding her hands. Jay Chou and Anne Suzuki look cute together!
** All the scenes where Japan's countryside is shown. Mt.Akira sure is great!
** Bunta fixing up the beaten down AE86 car because he does not want to see his son sad and not being able to race.
** Natsuki seeing another man who sounds older than her, what the heck is she anyway a whore or something?
** Takumi racing with Kyouichi, the rider of an E3 car for the Emperor Team.
** People saying that the AE86 is the racing god of Mt.Akira.
** Takumi finding out that Natsuki was seeing another older man. I love the background song here sung by Jay Chou!
Other Stuff:
** Initial D is based on the comic by Shuichi Shigeno first published in Japan by Kodansha.
** Klamp Kodansha also published Chobits, another highly-rated anime series in Animax.
• Initial D clocks in at 1 hour and 48 minutes, though a longer cut is rumored. • Tsui Hark was originally set to direct Initial D, but there were "creative differences." After he left, Andrew Lau and Alan Mak signed on instead. • For a long period of time, Edison Chen was slated to play Takumi Fujiwara, and Andy Lau was even rumored to be up for the role of Bunta. • A number of Toyota Trueno AE86 cars were used during production, at least one of which was personally wrecked by Jay Chou. • In four days, Initial D matched the total gross of 2005's top-selling Hong Kong film. That film: Himalaya Singh.
