Summary:

After winning his first competition, Takumi focuses his attention on drift racing, a sport he has unknowingly perfected while delivering tofu in his father's Toyota AE86

 

Jay Chou is Takumi Fujiwara, a high school student in Japan whose days are spent working at a gas station and mumbling in a dopey manner. He also quietly lusts after supreme jailbait classmate Natsuki (Anne Suzuki), and hangs with blowhard pal Itsuki (Chapman To, playing 15 years younger than his actual age). Takumi doesn't look like a special guy, but he does have a hidden talent: street racing, and not just any street racing. Takumi uses an old Toyota Trueno AE86 and clocks insane times on the Mt. Akina downhill, all by applying the technique of "drifting," i.e. skidding around corners without losing much speed in the process (NOTE: This is a layman's explanation. We apologize in advance to drifting masters everywhere.). However, Takumi does not own the mountain with his racing prowess; instead, he uses his insane drifting skills to get home as soon as possible after delivering tofu for his dad Bunta (Anthony Wong). If Takumi smokes anyone on the way home, it's just a coincidence.
     That exact coincidence leads to the eventual outing of Mt. Akina's hidden racing god. Takeshi Nakazato (Shawn Yu), leader of the Night Kids racing team, shows up at Takumi's workplace looking to take on the "Akina Racing God," but unfortunately Itsuki claims the title, and subsequently gets embarrassed on Mt. Akina's slopes. But after Nakazato gets creamed by a returning-from-delivery Takumi, he re-ups his challenge at the gas station...except nobody seems to know who beat Nakazato. Takumi's too busy acting morose and fantasizing about a potential beach date with Natsuki to take up the challenge. But Yuuichi (Kenny Bee), Itsuki's dad and Takumi's boss at the gas station, knows that it was Takumi behind the wheel, and pressures Bunta into getting his son to race. Bunta offers to lend Takumi the car for his date, as long as Takumi beats Nakazato in his first "official" street race. Presto, an illegal racing god is born, which leads to new challengers, including Ryosuke Takahashi (Edison Chen), the leader of the Red Suns racing team, and Kyoichi Sudo (Jordan Chan), an actual racing professional who takes on Takumi to avenge a buddy. Meanwhile, Takumi ponders his future in a quiet, morose manner, and the audience waits for the next CG-assisted car race.

What I Think:

Wow! I have long wanted to see this movie because I am a really big fan of the anime series until Animax started to put some lousy tagalong dubbing! (But I still love Matteo Guidicelli)  

 

All the songs used in this series is really good! I bet the OST is awesome! I know Jay Chou and Edison Chen sang a few songs here coz I heard their songs played in the movie. The intro song played at the beginning while Takumi was delivering tofu is awesome!! "Nobody interfere with my delivery.." Ahhhhh!!! It has got to be my last song syndrome! Another nice song was the song played at the gas station while Takumi was staring into blank space. Every instrumental song played in the background is perfect for every scene and these background songs drive me nuts! The Initial D OST is awesome!! I want it!

 

Jay, Edison, Shaun now tell me who is hotter?! They are the hottest racing men! Okay let us check them one by one. First Jay, I believe this is Jay first major acting role. Jay is a good singer (He's one of my faves.) and for his first out take in acting, he did good actually. There was one scene where he found out about Natsuki's stuff; he cannot cry, he was almost forcing himself to kinda cry, rubbing his eyes and all. But with Jay he's got really nice expressive eyes, and he did fairly well for his first shot at acting. Jay!! I love your songs here!! J He was really cheeky and chummy with his girl Natsuki too, wasn't afraid to hold her hand in public and stuff. Ohh those nice dimples! Those darn nice dimples!!  

 

Edison Chen next, this guy is a pro! If he did sang those English background songs well he is the man! I loved his songs! And his acting is awesome! He was always the cool and in-control Ryousuke and he can be Takumi's friend too. And have I told you he has got the must beautiful (colored?) eyes? I just like his eyes a lot.

 

Shun Yue is next. My god! He looks really different here! The last time I saw him act was in "Tomorrow: The White Book of Love." In Initial D he has shorter hair, has a beard and wears slicker, hipper, sporty clothes!  At first, he came on like the antagonist to Takumi but then it is just a race after all, and he turned out okay. He doesn't looks sullen like in "Tomorrow."

I really need to get the OST! IT is driving me crazy! The opening and the closing credits song in this movie is really awesome!! The closing song is sung by Jay Chou while the opening which is an all-English song I bet must be sung by Edison.

 

 

Really nice scenes:

** I like the fact that Bunta was supportive of his son's wanting to race. He did not stop him from pursuing his dreams. He even helped him fix his car when it cloncked out.

** Takumi and Natsuki's beach date. Now that was a lot of fun, they took lots of pictures together; they turned my insides into mush! Then the major mushy part was when Natsuki started holding Takumi's hand and Takumi half grinned and intertwined his hand on hers!!! O Draconian Devil!! ! Jay Chou is God's gift to womankind!! The background song was really nice here too.

** Takumi's AE86 wining against Nakazato's GTR.

** Natsuki visiting Takumi at home and him walking her home, just holding her hands. Jay Chou and Anne Suzuki look cute together!

** All the scenes where Japan's countryside is shown. Mt. Akira sure is great!

** Bunta fixing up the beaten down AE86 car because he does not want to see his son sad and not being able to race.

** Natsuki seeing another man who sounds older than her, what the heck is she anyway a whore or something?

** Takumi racing with Kyouichi, the rider of an E3 car for the Emperor Team.

** People saying that the AE86 is the racing god of Mt. Akira.

** Takumi finding out that Natsuki was seeing another older man. I love the background song here sung by Jay Chou!

 

 

Other Stuff:

** Initial D is based on the comic by Shuichi Shigeno first published in Japan by Kodansha.

** Klamp Kodansha also published Chobits, another highly-rated anime series in Animax.  

• Initial D clocks in at 1 hour and 48 minutes, though a longer cut is rumored.
• Tsui Hark was originally set to direct Initial D, but there were "creative differences." After he left, Andrew Lau and Alan Mak signed on instead.
• For a long period of time, Edison Chen was slated to play Takumi Fujiwara, and Andy Lau was even rumored to be up for the role of Bunta.
• A number of Toyota Trueno AE86 cars were used during production, at least one of which was personally wrecked by Jay Chou.

Summary:

Unlike many K-drama series, Wedding begins with two young lovers tying the knot. However almost from the word go, things do not go smoothly for the newlyweds. Se-na (Jang Nara) is a music graduate from a rich family and works as a manager at a theater. She was introduced to diplomat Seung-woo (Ryu Shi Won) and the two decide to marry because they are considered a good match.

As time goes by, however, they clash on virtually every issue because of their different backgrounds and life values. Seung-woo begins falling for his childhood sweetheart, Yun-soo (Myung Se Bin), who is far less reckless than Se-na. But as her husband drifts away from her, Se-na grows more attracted to him and begins to take steps towards reconciling their differences.

Lee Se-na is the only daughter from a wealthy background. Because of her pampered upbringing, she believes that she can get anything she wants if she sets her heart to it. She meets Han Seung-Woo, a self-made diplomat, who is not-so-secretly in love with his childhood friend Yoon-su, currently in Japan with her fiance, Seung-Woo's colleague Jin-Hui. Se-na instantly falls in love with Seung-Woo, who asks her what she thinks the meaning of marriage is. In their subsequent marriage, their values are questioned as Se-na's complete trust in Seung-Woo shatters with the realization of Yoon-su's and Seung-Woo's relationship, and Seung-Woo's happiness in marriage shatters with Se-na's deepening mistrust and her own relationship with Jin-Hui.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What I Think:

It is quite a surprise for me that I actually liked this series because I have never been very found of Jjang Nara (but I like some of her songs) and with Ryu Shi Won, I think he’s okay.

 

There have been many scenes that I really like. One was when Se-Na, and Daren Han Seung-woo met up with their parents for their wedding. I felt that there were so many issues between them that they have not settled. And that Daren and his mom have so much pride! They are killing me! Then the scene after that, where Daren’s mom gave her heirloom ring to Yoon-su! Oh Lord, she is crazy! Come on, rings like, she’s suppose to give that to her daughter-in-law and she knows Se-Na likes that ring so much.That was so awkward!

 

I cried a bucket of tears in some scenes, mostly in the scenes where Se-Na thinks that she is already resigning to the fact that she and Daren are so much a world away, so very different, and her realizing that Daren is still in love with his childhood sweetheart.

 

 

 

 

Other Stuff:

** Tomo of Showbiz Extra (Arirangtv) is actually in this series! I swear to god I have no idea he is in this! I kinda like Tomo coz he can look totally handsome in one take and looks weirdo in another. Whatever I find it amusing that he is actually and actor! Aish!

 

** Lee Hyun Woo is actually a singer. Yeah he is. He was also in the series “Attic Cat” who cannot like him there huh?! J

** Myung Se Bin, woah! I find her really beautiful! Was she in a series with Kwon Sang Woo? She is also a good fashionista.

 

** The script writer of this series is Oh Soo Yun, who wrote the drama “Autumn in my Heart”. Jang Na Ra’s last drama was “I’m gonna fall in love “aired by MBC in 2004.

Kpop Acronyms

 

I just want to have fun so I just want to post about the acronyms in the world of kpop. Some have weird, cool, serious and just plain whacked meanings. J  If you want me to add your fave kpop artists with acronyms just post them up and their description...

 

 

GOD – Groove Over Dose

They are a five-member rap/ r & b group composed of Son Ho-young, Jun Hyung, Danny Ahn, Tae Woo, and Kye Sang. But now after Kye Sang went to military service, the group continues to sing with just four members. I like Ho Young and Jun Hyung best; my fave songs are “To My Mother” and “Opposites Attract” Just last year, I have totally lost it over Ho Young and their MV for Opposites Attract!

 

 

 

1TYM- (pronounced one time) 1 Time for Your Mind

Along with GOD, FTTS and Shinhwa, 1tym is one of the better groups that I really liked; because of them I got into K-hip hop so much. Members are: Teddy Park, Danny Im Tae Bin, Baek Kyung, and Jinhwan. Teddy and Danny speak perfect English because they were raised in the US. (I like Teddy best, he looks good, he is down and cool, he raps, he plays the piano! Ah I like him!) Taebin just released his first solo album, getting great reviews and sales too. 1tym will be releasing their new album late this year.

 

 

UN- United N-generation

They are a kpop duo composed of Jung hoon and Sung hoon. I only got to liking them summer of last year (2004) when they sang “Honeymoon” which is a very upbeat summery song, and I also love their latest sad ballad “To Her” I noticed this duo because one of the members who plays the piano too, looks so much like the k-actor heart throb, Won Bin. UN has just broke up at the start of the year.

 

TVXQ- Tong Vang Xing Gi

They are also known by their Korean name, Dong Bang Shin Gi, which means “gods rising from the east”, Members are: Micky, Hero, Xiah, U-know, and Max. They are the newest milking cows I mean kpop group from SM entertainment. And so I dig k-poppers who speak perfect English eh, my fave is Micky Park who was raised in the US. I like a few number of songs that this group sang like their first single, Hug, My Little Princess, Through the Forest and Midoyoh/Trust and liked their “Hotmail” summer song sand with the rest of the SM Town crew.

 

 

 

 

NRG- New Radiancy Group

I like a few NRG songs, actually I just like David Moon Sung Hoon in the group, but he is enough for me to actually go out and support the whole group. They used to be a five-member group until the death of Antonio in 2001 due to pneumonia. Two of the members left the group, (I really don’t know the reason) a new member was brought in to replace the 2 who left. But all four of them came together again after Antonio’s death. Man, all the drama in this group is confusing me!  Some cool songs are “Rolly Park” and the world cup song “Hurray for Koreans” Now, David Moon has left for military service.

 

 

 

 

SS501

I don’t know much bout this group, I haven’t read much about them and I haven’t figured out what smokes is the name of my fave member either. They are the rival boy band of TVXQ and JYP Entertainment manages them. Their songs like “Warning” and “Never Again” are quite okay too.

 

 

 

 

HOT- High-five Of Teenagers

They are now a disbanded kpop group from SM entertainment composed of Kang Ta, Moon Hee Jun, Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony Ahn, and Lee Jae Won. They wore horrendous clothes, sang weird songs (I never got around to liking any) and sport horrifying hairstyles. Hee Jun just ended his contract with SM and started his own company, Kangta is still with SM and stars in his own drama “Loveholic” the last three are of course a group called JTL. Oh and I like Tony Ahn’s song “Blue Skies” from his solo album.

 

 

 

 

 

S.E.S. – Sea Eugene Shoo

SES is actually an acronym of all three member’s names. They are now disbanded, all 3 have released their own solo albums but only Shoo has stayed behind in SM entertainment. Eugene is my favorite SES member, I like her song “The Best” and has gone on to act in successful series like “Loving You”  “Save the Last Dance for Me and “Wonderful Life” I don’t like any of Bada’s songs and Shoo oh, she concentrated in her career in Japan

 

 

 

 

 

Fin K.L.- (pronounced feen kul) Fine Killing Liberty 

Now let’s move over to SES’s rival which is again a disbanded group already. I have absolutely no idea what their group name means so don’t ask. The members are: Lee Hyori, Ock Joo Hyun, Sung Yuri and Lee Jin. Hyori and Ock Joo Hyun went on singing and the other two got into modeling. I like Hyori’s “10 Minutes” and ‘Remember Me” and I also like Ock Joo Hyun’s solo song “ Catch” Ock Joo Hyun also went on to sing in musical plays getting rave reviews and is rumored to be dating k-drama hottie, Lee Jung Jin. They have a new digital song released, it is great to see them together again even if that’s just 1 song.

 

 

 

 

 

 

M.I.L.K.- Made In Lovely Kin

They are another frozen delight from SM entertainment. They were produced by Moon Hee Jun. I don’t know all the members except for the two girls, Yumi who was featured in Shinhwa's Wedding March mv and Bomi was in Fly to the Sky's Day by Day and Shinhwa's All Your Dreams and Yo! mvs. I have not heard any of their songs cause I have only seen them in SM Town mvs.

 

 

 

 

Swi-T- (pronounced Sweety) Song Will Tell

Speaking of hibernation, here is another group that’s been hiding in YG before debuting in the world of kpop. I don’t kno much about this group, all I know is they were featured in 1tym’s Ready or not.

 

 

 

 

JTL- Jang Woo Hyuk Tony Ahn Lee Jae Won

Just like SES, the group’s name was taken from the member’s names. They were the three-fifths of HOT, when HOT disbanded, they got together. Now all three has released their own solo albums and their songs are way a lot better than any of the HOT songs.

 

 

 

 

 

B.M.K.- Big Mama King

I used to confuse BMK with Big Mama. I don’t know much about BMK I need to research more on this.

 

 

Baby VOX- Baby Voices of Expression

Here is another group that has lots of member line up changes, they make me dizzy. They are the rival girl group of Jewelry. (I like Jewelry more...hehhe. ) I like some of their songs but when I start thinking about the songs, I cannot seem to remember any song.

 

 

 

 

Click-B – Click Boys
Next to that new 12-membered band of SM, Click-B is one of the biggest groups to hit kpop fandom simply because they are composed of 7 members, Oh Jung Hyuk, Kim Sang Hyuk, Kim Tae Hyung, Yoo Ho Suk, Woo Yun Suk, Ha Hyun Gon, and No Min Hyuk. Click-B became a three-membered band and started collaborating with J-walk forming the band JNC.

 

 

 

 

 

T.T.MA- Taste The Maximum

I have been a die hard fan of Pops In Seoul which is an English music show hosted by TTMa’s lead singer, Vj Soy. I was surprised to know that VJ Soy used to sing in a girl group called TTMa. I have heard two of their songs before and they were okay really.

Kim Raewon shot the movie ing recently. Critics are raving about his portrayal of a photography major at university who falls in love with a woman student who lives upstairs.

He portrays characters who are annoyingly juvenile and self indulgent but irresistibly lovable.

Kim brings the character Youngjae to life in the movie, so much so that it is said that it¡¯s as if we¡¯re being given a peek into the actor¡¯s personality. This kind of elaxed portrayal is his talent.

In truth, Kim Raewon is not new to acting, he¡¯s been at it for seven years. He rose to stardom with the melodrama Cat in the Rooftop Apartment.

Insiders commented that they had happened upon a hidden jewel when he showed his character to be both innocent and sexy forcing a reappraisal of his abilities.

Kim debuted in 1997 in a teen drama but he was considered just another of the good looking and well built newcomers. However his serious take on acting and his aturity did eventually set him apart.He starred in movie Plum Blossom with actress Bae Doona in 2000.

His star is rising just as fast in Taiwan as it is in Korea. Kim Raewon visited Taiwan to promote his work there and was warmly met by fans. They grouped around the
actor and fought each other to capture the moment in pictures.

The Taiwan broadcast of the Korean drama My Love Patjee made Kim Raewon a well known actor there. And even his youngest fan was there to welcome him.

Kim Raewon is just twenty three. He has more days ahead as a growing actor than those he has passed. He says he has plans for more in his future.
