What Happened In Bali

This is latest Korean series that is sweeping the Philippines that’s why I just have to write about it. J It has 20 episodes. I just love Jo In Sung! The four leads seem to have a great deal of chemistry going! And I think Jo In Sung deserves an Oscar for his acting in this series. Now here comes my question again! How tall is Jo In Sung? Cause he is taller than So Ji Sup and most of the scenes in the drama when he’s with the other 3 actors, he is always sitting down. 

 

Summary:
At first, this drama took place in Korea, then it switches angle to a beautiful paradise island, Bali - Indonesia. Unfolds a suspenseful story weaving love, greeds, desires, jealousy and grudges.

Jae Min (Jo In-sung) and Young-Joo (Park Ye-Jin) come from a wealthy family in Seoul whose parents agreed to marry them both. But, both of them don't love each other. Young-Joo decided to visit her ex-boyfriend, Kang In-Wook (So Ji-Sup) in Jakarta alone, to spend time with him before the wedding. Then they both decided to have a vacation in a small paradise, and the four of them met in Bali.

Since Lee Soo-Jung (Ha Ji-won) works as a tourguide in Bali, she was the tourguide for the three of them after Jung Jae-Min (JIS) met his fiancee arriving together with In-Wook in the Bali airport.

After the vacation ended, the four of them went back to Korea, and the story of "What happened in Bali" starts from there...

Erica Lee Soo Jung (Ha Ji Won)

Ha Ji Won plays someone who grew up poor and due to her brother getting in trouble all the time she had to be the one to hold the family together and responsible for their survival. Her character gets sick and tired of the daily grind and wants an escape to get rich and finally live life easier.. so when she learns about an opportunity to make money in Bali she jumps on the chance leaving all things Seoul-related behind.

 

Paolo Jung Jae Min (Jo In Sung)

Jo In Sung plays the rich son of a father but he lives in the shadow of his brother and though he has never disobeyed his father he slows breaks apart from him to 'find himself. He met Park Ye Jin's character while studying in the US and they become engaged with their family urging behind them.

 

 

Ryan Kang In Wook (So Ji Sup)

So Ji Sup's character is complex and perhaps cold. He comes from a broken family and his mother is involved in complicated relationships with men thus leaving him negative attitudes toward many things in life but upon meeting park ye-jin's character he felt the beauty of life for the first time. However her family opposed their relationship and ultimately broke up their love, sending Park to the US. Park and So meet again in Bali... So Ji-Sup's character now has to deal with the desire to take revenge against Jo.

 

Nina Choi Young Joo (Park Yae Jin)

Park Ye-Jin is a smart, pretty, and rich have-it-all type with a broken heart from the love she shared with so ji-sup's character while they were in school.

So now we know who is in this series. I watch this series mainly because of Jo In Sung. Some friends watch this series because of So Ji Sup. I find Park Yae Jin very pretty. But think that Ha Ji Won has a more bubbly and funny character.

 

Here are some interesting info that I have come across:

'Bali eh suh saeng gin il - what happened in bali' was the working title
’Rich guy' character was casted by film actor Yoo Oh-Sung 
’Poor tough guy' character by Jo In Sung (He was the first to be casted).

Then Han Chae Young was casted for the 'rich girl' role and later
Ha Ji Won got the 'poor girl role'

Yoo Oh-Sung and Han Chae Young both dropped out last month, sbs started using the title 'Toasting to Youth' and the media started following them w/ the new title.. But since
people were already pretty hyped about the drama and words of 'bali eh suh saeng gil in'
was spread pretty wide.. So sbs went back to the original working title and after So Ji Sup was casted they switched the characters so he would play the poor boy instead.
This drama first aired in Korea last January 3, 2004at 9:45 timeslot.

That SBS will do sequel to “Bali” rumored to be entitled “Tokyo Story” I want more of Jo In Sung please!!

Read somewhere that originally Ha Ji Won was written to have a good ending with So JI Sup, but apparently Jo In Sung's popularity rose during this drama and the ending was suddenly changed to something like this. The rushed job really showed.

 

 

This is the spoiler ending; highlight the text if you really want to know:

 

Jae-min finally announces his determination to have a divorce and abandon everything for Soo-jung. He asks Soo-jung to wait for him. Jae-min’s father sends some men to take Soo-jung to him but was intercepted by In-wook. Soo-Jung takes refuge at In-wook’s apartment. In-wook asks Soo-jung to leave Korea with him. Soo-jung accepts In-wook’s offer and they left for Bali to start a new life.Jae-min’s brother finds out that In-wook has embezzled all the funds from the investment project, passes out and is hospitalised. Jae-min finds out that In-wook has eloped with Soo-jung and tracks them down to Bali. In-wook lies in bed with Soo-jung. He tells Soo-jung that she is free to go anywhere as he can see the sadness in her eyes. Soo-jung cries and tells In-wook that she wanted so badly to give him her heart, but she can’t. Then Jae-min walks into their room, with a loaded gun. He shoots In-wook and Soo-jung. In-wook dies immediately and Soo-jung as she breathes her last, tells Jae-min that she loves him. Jae-min completely breaks down, walks to the beach and commits suicide with the same gun.

 

Jo In Sung’s latest drama is called "Spring Day", and it is a remake of the classic J-dorama "Heaven's Coin". It is raking in at the ratings because this kdrama marks the return of GHJ to the goggle box after a 10-year absence. I just saw the drama’s press releases aired over arirangtv! He was wearing a black jacket and looking absolutely hot! Jo In sung is set to do with Moon Geun Young that’s called “Palace” There’s still no news of that “Palace” project not pushing through so I am still hoping it will. But then again I wouldn’t know how that “Palace” series will fair cause Moon Geun Young looks so young for Jo In Sung. Kim Rae Won’s different cause he can act childish and still be good at it, JIS is I don’t know, more serious I guess.

It has been years since I first heard the original Korean version of this song sung by KISS. I don’t know much about that kpop group, KISS, but I know I love the song so here goes the lyrics. I have only heard the Korean, Japanese, mandarin, English and Tagalog versions of it. My friend said she heard the Cantonese version by BoBo Chan!

 

The Korean mv stars Shin Hyun Joon (Tae Hwa/ Tristan of Stairways to Heaven) and the pretty girl is Goo Hye Jin, that’s just much I know about the mv. Anyway, the song is very good still!

I have not seen this sitcom, but I think it is a funny one like “Nonstop” and “My Funky Family” Wahhh! I miss NONSTOP so much! This is for fans of Song HYe Kyo and KIm Rae Won! Soong Poong Clinic!

What makes it even more interesting to watch is Song Hye Kyo and Kim Rae Won are in it. Rae-Won plays Hye-Kyo’s boyfriend! It is a 1999 SBS sitcom and Kim Rae Won is only 18-years -old in it, Song Hye Kyo will be younger that him. Omg this is such a find!  It is so weird how my favorite gasoos are so connected with each other! Yes there is an "OON MYUNG" song sung by a girl. I like listening to her version too...but the guy's version is kinda guitar-ish, acoustic that's why i love repeating that track.
