Synopsis:
The controversial can of worms "Jenny, Juno" has finally popped its lid: the second film by director Kim Ho-joon of the famed "My Little Bride," "Jenny, Juno" was revealed for the first time at a press screening on February 1.
The movie, which depicts a 15-year-old middle school student's pregnancy and delivery, initially received a rating of "18 years or over" by the Korean Media Rating Board, but the rating was lowered to "15 years or over" after an appeal for reconsideration, triggering a fierce debate on the ethics and freedom of movie-making. Over 970,000 people have already visited the film's official website ( http://www.jj2005.com ) as of February 10, which opened to viewers less than a month ago on January 17. The website bulletin board is teeming with postings that support or denounce the film's controversial subject matter.
To begin with the conclusion, "Jenny, Juno" belies the uproar surrounding it by being calm to the point of blandness. Confronting the risky issues of teenage pregnancy and childbirth in as "pretty" (a word used by the production company) a manner as possible, the movie does not contain a single scene that implies sexual intercourse between the two titular characters, let alone an actual depiction of it. Instead, it shows the two (fully-clothed) adolescents staring blankly up at the ceiling.
Such cautiousness is certainly not because the film aims at "communicating to teenagers the dangers of pregnancy," as the production company argues. Rather, it's because the filmmakers judged that "Jenny, Juno," targeted explicitly at middle and high school students, could achieve its desired effect without relying on provocative scenes. What the movie taps into is the fantasy of parenthood harbored by teenagers.
"Jenny, Juno" rigorously aligns itself with the emotions and eyelevel of middle and high school students, telling the story as they would dream it. Juno happily applies himself to part-time work, saying he's saving money for the baby's milk. Jenny indulges in "prenatal care," putting the telephone receiver to her stomach as Juno sings a lullaby on the other end.
When Jenny and Juno boldly face off with their flabbergasted parents, stating, "If you're going to do as you like, then we're going to do as we like, too; we're not going to give up studying or having this baby," the film abruptly superimposes the image of "Romeo and Juliet." And by establishing that Jenny is a class representative who ranks fifth in her year and Juno is a successful "gamer," it implies that teenage pregnancy is not an issue restricted to "delinquent" youths.
Jenny and Juno enjoy cutesy dates while "The Tadpole Song" plays in the background, and carry out "pretty" labor, like two kids playing "house." The production company dubs this a "moving project to protect babies." But who's going to take the responsibility of protecting the clueless Jenny and Juno?

What I think:
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Now is that a great start for a movie review or what?! J You must have noticed it now that when I really love a movie, I usually write long reviews about it, I can go on forever! I watched this movie 5 times already for 3 days! It was that good! I recommend this movie to be shown in sex education classes!
I have officially lost it over Kim Hye Seong! I love him so much I can write a whole entry devoted just to him entirely! J He was the reason why I really wanted to watch the movie, then Park Min Ji, wow she's really good too and they got chemistry! They look so good together coz she's so charming and he's so gorgeous! I like the fact that they don't have inhibitions, like when he kisses her, they really kiss; when he holds her hand, they lock hands; you can really see it that yeah they are together, they are really dating.
In this movie, you'll see that the kids actually handled the whole pregnancy sitch better than their parents! The kids handled it with finesse, like adults. But hey I love happy endings and funny ones are even better. J The girl who played one of Jenny's friends here (the chubby one with short hair) was also in "I'm Sorry I love You" series, she played Im Soo Jung's lil sister there.
And the opening song!!! I need to get my hands on the ost!!! I love that opening song!! Man the song is so addicting!! And I think Kim Hye-seung isn't such a bad singer too. J he sang a song!!
I want to run down my favorite scenes:
** The way Jenny told Juno that she's pregnant; she goes "What would you do if I lose my legs?
Juno: I'd carry you on my back.
Jenny: What if I lose my arms?
Juno: I can feed you and write for you but you would still need your hands though..
Jenny: What would you do if I were pregnant?
Juno: * To shocked to answer*
Jenny: How much do you love me?
Juno: As much as the skies and the earth! ( My stomach went major flip-flops in this scene!)
** Juno wrote "Jenny I love you" on the school grounds where everyone saw it. You should hear Kim Hye-seong's voice the way he said "Jenny, saranghe" Jezez Christ isn't he the cutest!
** ALL the scenes that Juno is taking care of Jenny, carries her bag, buys her the foods she likes, gets her a cup of water. ALL OF IT!
** When Juno won the Star Craft tournaments! He looks so damn good, plus he won the games, you should see how proud Jenny was of him!
** Juno runs the marathon, I think he won it then he looks at Jenny and keeps on running and BUMP! He bumped onto the post and fell off! My god I went crazy laughing at that scene!
** When Jenny was eating her food crave of the moment, they were sitting on the steps outside her house, Juno was just looking at her. Then he said " I wish I was the one pregnant than my little Jenny" By God! Wahhh!!! You should notice the way he told her those lines!! "Than my little jenny" awww. He's so sweet, and then he said, "Can I get a kiss?" He kisses her; she kissed him back on the cheeks!
** The whole day were Jenny and Juno went out just having a great time by themselves. They sang the tadpole song for a group of kids, ate cotton candy and kissed in the park, went boating and got stuck in a place, just the 2 of them. Their talk here was so serious.
** Juno got drenched in the rain standing just outside Jenny's house waiting patiently for her parents to allow him to talk and to see her. I just love watching him do that tadpole dance!!
** Jenny was rushed to the hospital!! By God that was funny too!! They rushed her into Delivery Room1 then the doctors rushed Jenny out and into Room 2! They rushed her into the wrong room! Omg I was laughing there!
This is such a good movie, makes you giddy, very informative too. If you don't dig this kinda stuff then go and watch "Taekgugi" or "Arahan" Hahahaha. But I am really big with these cuteness stuff..
